Board of Governors Recruitment
Open positions for the Project 90 by 2030 Board of Governors
About Project 90 by 2030 (https://90by2030.org.za/)
Project 90 by 2030 was established in 2007 and is a social and environmental justice organisation inspiring and mobilising South African society towards a sustainably developed and equitable low-carbon future.
We work with stakeholders and decision makers to identify policies and actions that support climate justice; with a specific focus on developing environmental leadership in our youth, and increasing people’s ability to engage government – through active public participation – to address climate change, energy poverty, and the social injustices that intersect in their communities.
Our name is premised on George Monbiot’s book “Heat”, which calls for a 90 % reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by the year 2030, if we are to avoid “catastrophic effects on both humans and ecosystems”.
We are a registered Non-Profit Organisation (NPO 123-630) and have Public Beneficiary Organisation status as well. We are a voluntary member of the Independent Code of Governance for Non Profit Organisations in South Africa.
About the Board of Governors
Project 90 by 2030 is a small team of passionate activists and we rely on the support of our Board members to guide us in the strategic decision making and to ensure the organisation subscribes to sound governance practices.
Our Board members are all volunteers and offer their services to the organisation without compensation.

The Members will meet virtually or in person at least 3 times per annum.
