In 2021 we piloted a new and innovative aspect to our #PlayingWithSolar programme, our Solar Hubs!

Assembled by our young climate leaders as a part of our #YouLead Initiative youth leadership programme – aimed at developing environmental leadership in these young Climate Leaders as we transition to an equitable, low-carbon society – these solar hubs inspire our youth and communities towards new energy ideas.

These outstanding Solar Hubs are low-cost because they do not have a battery, but instead use the sun during the day to charge up to four devices at a time,  to be used in time of need; and with loadshedding in South Africa looking like it may stay for some time they are surely helpful. With the ongoing and increasing stages of loadshedding the small and powerful devices are greatly appreciated by many.

This initiative inspires and mobilises young people to find alternative and creative ways of ensuring energy security!

This year we are planning on developing the second prototype of the Solar Hubs  – let us know if you want to work with us.
