Job Opportunity: G20 Civil Society Coordinator

Role overview

We are looking for a dynamic and detail-oriented individual with excellent facilitation skills and a diplomatic approach to coordinate and convene civil society engagement on climate, energy and sustainable finance issues within G20 Insider and Outsider Tracks. 

Project Administration

  • Coordinate daily project activities and stakeholder collaboration
  • Manage scheduling, calendars, logistics, and documentation
  • Develop work plans, track progress, and compile reports
  • Maintain a well-organized and searchable shared drive
  • Conduct outreach and research to grow contact database
  • Plan and support online and in-person events, dialogues, and workshops

Network & Coalition Coordination

  • Convene and facilitate civil society coalitions on climate, energy, and sustainable finance in G20 spaces
  • Collaborate with C20 and G20 Outsider Track coalitions to align advocacy
  • Collect and coordinate policy brief inputs from working groups
  • Lead strategic workshops and dialogues with civil society
  • Promote information sharing and unified action across networks

Policy, Advocacy & Communications

  • Ensure consistency in messaging and narrative across communications
  • Support development of media content, advocacy materials, and policy submissions
  • Identify and facilitate public participation opportunities in G20 processes
  • Guide stakeholders to actively engage in both G20 Insider and Outsider Tracks

Financial Management & Fundraising

  • Oversee project budget and ensure financial accountability
  • Strengthen existing partnerships and develop new strategic relationships


Skills and Experience:

It is essential that candidates have:

  • Minimum of 4 years professional experience in an operational capacity
  • Experience in coordination of coalitions, networks, and/or teams
  • Experience in activism (ideally climate-related) and/or understanding of the challenges faced by activists
  • Cultural and gender awareness and sensitivity
  • Ability to work flexible hours when need
  • Excellent spoken and written English, plus at least one additional language spoken in Southern Africa.

Details:
Full-Time (140 hrs/month)
Deadline to apply: 9 May 2025
Cost to company: R45,000 
Duration: 1-year contract, with potential to extend based on project needs
Note: This is a position in civil society, not G20 government
